Chennai Flood Relief!

                                      Humanity is still alive!

The deluge in Chennai cost the livelihood of thousands of people in the month of December.Owing to it there was no power and all the mobile networks were down but the humanitarian feeling to help people was seen everywhere. This showed the character of people to overcome the disaster as people from various states and even across border donated in the smallest possible way.

As students of  Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering we formed a group and split into teams of 5 to serve people in specific areas. The groups were formed according to the students locality and the mostly affected areas.I along with a team of 10 students gave relief material collected across the city in to people in North Chennai in specific flood hit areas like 'Kargil Nagar','Manali' and 'Tonidarpet'.

We collected funds and cooked food for 400 people and gave it to the regional officer for distribution.

Serving bread packets and biscuits to people in Kargil Nagar.
Items like Sanitary napkins, mosquito coils, biscuit packets, water packets and blankets were distributed as relief material. The four day relief work showed the improper planning of drainage systems in the city as the so called urban areas were the most affected and British Built drainage system before Independence withstood the lashing.Hope we learn the lessons and be more prepared to face a natural calamity.

Our college, SVCE has secured a total of 182.17/200 as a total and beats almost every reputed college in India. By far, this is our best performance at the VIRTUAL ROUND. The panel of Judges was impressed with our new modified, safer and more efficient design.

After clearing the Virtual round, our objective is to build an ATV(All Terrain Vehicle) which would be designed and fabricated by us. The vehicle would be designed in a way that it can easily tackle a rugged terrain. The Off-road vehicle would be a single seater and would compete against other Institutions that bring their ATVs and are subjected to various tests
